Mountain in BOKOD

Mt. Purgatory

Mt. Purgatory together with Mt. Pack and Mt. Komkompol are mountain peaks located in Bokod, Benguet. Mt. Purgatory stands at the elevation of 2,100 MASL and it is formerly known as Line 7 by Benguet Corporation as a jump pole for the tramline. It was named as Purgatory for its isolation due to coldness and darkness.

Mt. Purgatory is usually traversed from Japas jump-off point to a Pethal, a village before reaching the municipal hall of Bokod.

Mt. Purgatory requires a two day itinerary to traverse the three summits of Mt. Pack, Mt. Purgatory on the first day and Mt. Komkompol on the second day. See the story of Mt. Purgatory Traverse by Kenneth Bastian.
